In web terminology, an "index of" page is a directory listing automatically generated by a web server. When a website owner fails to set a default homepage (like index.html or index.php), the server displays a raw list of all files and subfolders within that directory.
A typical "index of" page looks like this:

These pages are often unintentionally exposed by system administrators. However, cybercriminals deliberately create fake "index of" directories to distribute malware, spyware, or counterfeit software.

Downloading Microsoft Office from an unofficial source violates Microsoft’s software license agreement. While an individual user is unlikely to face a lawsuit, companies and educational institutions can be audited and fined for using unlicensed software.
Even if you manage to install a working copy from an index, it will not receive security updates. Over time, your system becomes vulnerable to exploits that Microsoft patched months ago.
