A Network Connection: For local play (same house), any Wi-Fi router works. For online play (with a friend), a stable internet connection (low ping, not necessarily high speed) is crucial.

Port Forwarding (for hosting over the internet): If you want to be the host of a server your friend connects to from outside your home network, you need to forward a specific port (default is UDP 27312) on your router.

Create a virtual LAN over the internet, then use PPSSPP’s “Adhoc on same network” option.
