The V30 produces 33kg (72lbs) of max drag. However, the engineering triumph is the start-up inertia. Many high-drag reels require a hammer strike to start the spool moving, snapping light leaders. The ZHX Team V30’s drag washers are a proprietary blend of woven carbon and ceramic. The initial strike is soft, but as the fish runs, the cam system multiplies the pressure exponentially.
One unique feature of the ZHX Team V30 is the Rotor Brake System. Overspin is a common issue when casting heavy poppers (80g+). The V30 includes an adjustable magnetic rotor brake that slows the spool just before the cast finishes. This eliminates nasty tangles ("wind knots") that ruin a trip.
