If none of the above works, your printer may have a hardware failure (printhead or motherboard).


Sometimes the procedure fails. Here are the most common issues:

If you have installed a Continuous Ink Supply System (CISS) or refillable cartridges with an auto-reset chip, some come with a physical reset button on the side of the cartridge. reset epson xp 2100

This method does NOT reset the waste ink pad. It only resets the ink level chips. For the Service Required error, ignore this method.

  • After restore, power-cycle the printer (turn off, wait 10s, turn on).
  • Resetting the waste ink counter may be required if you see a “Service Required” or “The printer’s ink pad is at the end of its service life” error. This can involve service-mode procedures or a reset utility. Use at your own risk; improper use can damage the printer or bypass safety notifications.
