You get 6CH surround sound. While PSA usually optimizes for small file size, keeping the 6-channel audio instead of dropping to stereo is a blessing. The film’s sound design (by the team behind Challengers) is hypnotic and ambient. Listening on headphones (downmixed) or a soundbar will give you that immersive, slightly off-kilter atmosphere.
I tested the PSA release of Queer on a 65-inch OLED (sitting 8 feet away) and on a 14-inch laptop. Queer.2024.1080p.10bit.WEBRip.6CH.x265.HEVC-PSA...
Here is the technical kicker: 10bit. Most WEB releases are 8-bit. The 10-bit encoding here means a significant reduction in "banding"—those ugly horizontal lines you see in smooth gradients like a sunset or a dimly lit bar. Since Queer relies heavily on mood lighting and flesh tones, the 10-bit depth ensures the gradients look smooth on any modern monitor or TV. You get 6CH surround sound
The file uses x265 (HEVC) compression. Unlike older x264 releases, HEVC cuts the file size nearly in half without destroying fine detail. Given that Queer is a period piece dripping with dense, hazy cinematography (think the humid, claustrophobic textures of Mexico City), you need a codec that preserves grain without pixelating shadows. This PSA release does exactly that. Bit Depth: 10-bit
