Programming Software — Motorola Dep450

The Motorola DEP450 uses the MOTOTRBO Customer Programming Software (CPS), specifically version 2.0 for newer models. This software allows you to configure essential communication settings for both analog and digital modes to optimize your radio fleet's performance. Key Programming Features DEP™450 PORTABLE RADIO - Motorola Solutions

You cannot program this radio with just a cable and a standard USB port on a modern PC. The DEP450 requires a specific setup due to the radio's architecture.

If you only need to program 5 radios once a year, do not buy the software. Take the radios to a Motorola dealer. They will charge $20–$40 per radio to set frequencies.

Before you program a DEP450, ensure you have a license to transmit. motorola dep450 programming software

Programming software does not bypass hardware encryption or frequency limits. The DEP450 is hardware locked to specific bands (e.g., VHF 136-174 MHz or UHF 403-470 MHz). You cannot use software to make a UHF radio transmit on VHF.

  • Signalling: Configure MDC1200 (for unit ID bursts at the end of transmission).
  • Button Mapping: Assign the side buttons (PTT, Top, Side) to functions like "Monitor," "Scan," or "High/Low Power."
