Konica Minolta Code 9903 [LATEST PICK]

Open Source 3D Printer Driver

First created in 2011 for RepRap and Ultimaker by Erik van der Zalm et. al., today Marlin drives most of the world's 3D printers. Reliable and precise, Marlin delivers outstanding print quality while keeping you in full control of the process.

As an Open Source project hosted on Github, Marlin is owned and maintained by the maker community. Learn how you can contribute!

Konica Minolta Code 9903 [LATEST PICK]

If you are comfortable opening the machine, follow this diagnostic workflow. Warning: Opening the printer voids warranties if misused. If under service contract, call your provider first.

If the low-voltage power supply (LVPS) outputs unstable 3.3V or 5V DC, the video processor may intermittently reset. Similarly, blocked cooling fans causing the main controller to overheat can trigger false watchdog errors.

If the error returns, move to Step 2.

A medium-sized law firm had a bizhub C284e that displayed Code 9903 every time a specific paralegal printed a 150-page brief with embedded TIFF images. The machine would print 30 pages fine, then freeze with 9903. If you are comfortable opening the machine, follow

Diagnosis: The paralegal used a generic HP printer driver mapped to the Konica Minolta via a print server. The driver was sending compressed JPEG data the Konica could not decode.

Solution: Removing the generic driver and installing the official Konica Minolta PCL 6 driver eliminated the error entirely. No hardware was replaced. Sometimes a temporary glitch causes the error

The MFP board (also called the Image Processing Board) handles all video data routing. Overheating, voltage spikes, or capacitor aging can cause intermittent 9903 errors that worsen over time.

Inside the machine, a flexible flat cable (FFC) connects the MFP board to the video board. Over time, due to heat and vibration, this cable can work loose. Even a 1mm misalignment disrupts high-speed video data transfer.
