The most common cause. You downloaded Base firmware from one website, CUST from another, and Preload from a third. Even if the versions look similar, internal build metrics often differ.

If you cannot find a matching group version, you can try Recovery (dload) method instead, which bypasses HiSuite entirely. However, this requires an unlocked bootloader or a compatible microSD card.

Alternatively, use HiSuite Proxy with "Recovery mode" firmware (file names containing recovery or REC). Recovery firmware has looser group version checks.

  • In logs, search for fields named “group”, “version”, “protocol”, “apiVersion”, “handshake”, “negotiation”, or “ERROR: group version”.
