While prior research emphasizes the importance of sustained exposure (e.g., multi‑year STEM pipelines), our findings support the hypothesis that intensity can compensate for duration when paired with high ecological validity (real‑world relevance). This echoes the “deep‑practice” framework described by Ericsson et al. (1993) and extends it to adolescent, gender‑focused contexts.

The GirlsWay 24 05 05 cohort demonstrates that a compact, immersive STEM experience can dramatically elevate girls’ technical abilities, confidence, and aspirations. By centering mentorship, collaborative problem solving, and tangible community impact, the program creates a replicable blueprint for gender‑equitable STEM education. Scaling this model could contribute meaningfully toward closing the gender gap in technology fields worldwide.
