FortiClient VPN 6.0 is a legacy version of Fortinet’s unified endpoint protection and VPN client. While Fortinet has since released newer versions (7.0, 7.2, and 8.x), version 6.0 remains in use within certain enterprise environments due to legacy infrastructure, specific compliance requirements, or pending upgrade cycles.
Important Note: FortiClient 6.0 has reached End of Engineering (EOE) and End of Support (EOS) for many editions. It is highly recommended to upgrade to a supported version unless absolutely necessary.
To move away from version 6.0:
Compared to newer clients that bundle bloated features like endpoint detection and response (EDR), vulnerability scanning, and web filtering, FortiClient 6.0 offers a cleaner, more lightweight installation. If you only need the VPN module (without the "Telemetry" or "Endpoint Control" features), version 6.0 provides a snappier, less resource-intensive experience.

Supported OSes for v6.0:
Long-time IT administrators often prefer the classic UI layout of FortiClient 6.0. The newer interfaces, while modernized, moved or renamed critical VPN options. For rapid deployment in large environments, sticking with the 6.0 workflow saves training time.
