FTDI chips are notoriously sensitive to ESD and overvoltage on the I/O pins. A single stray 5V signal on a 3.3V-only pin can partially kill the D2XX command parser while leaving USB enumeration intact. There is no software fix for this. Desolder the chip or buy a new adapter. fdl2 failed
