Fatiha Ka Tarika In Roman English

This is the traditional method performed at home, after burial, or on special days like Chaliswa (40th day) or Barsi (anniversary). Note: This is not from Sunnah but is a cultural practice.

After making the Niyyah (intention), raise your hands to your ears and say: "Allahu Akbar" (Allah is the Greatest).

Step 1: Gather the family & food preparation
People sit in a circle. Usually, food (Kheer, Halwa, bread) is prepared to be distributed after the Fatiha as Langer or Niyaaz.

Step 2: Recitation of specific Surahs
A person (often a Maulvi or elder) leads the recitation:

Step 3: Sending reward (Isaal-e-Sawab)
After recitation, the leader says aloud:

"Bismillahir Rahmanir Raheem. Hum ne jo tilawat ki, us ka sawab Hazrat Muhammad (PBUH) ko, Aal-e- Muhammad ko, sahaba karaam ko, aur tamaam momineen o mominat, muslimeen o muslimat ko, aur khaas taur par hamare marhoom [name] ko pahunchaya." fatiha ka tarika in roman english

(Translation: With Allah’s name. The reward of our recitation is sent to Prophet Muhammad, his family, his companions, all believing men and women, and especially to our deceased [name].)

Step 4: Dua for the deceased
Everyone raises hands and recites a long Dua in Arabic or Urdu. A common short Dua:

"Rab-birhamhuma kama rabbayani sagheera" (for parents) – "My Lord, have mercy on them as they raised me when I was small."

Step 5: Dastarkhwan (Food distribution)
Food is served to the poor, relatives, and neighbors. The belief is that the sawab of charity also reaches the deceased.

Before starting Fatiha, it is Sunnah to recite Ta’awwuz and Tasmiyah. This is the traditional method performed at home,

In the name of "Fatiha," many people have added practices that have no basis in Quran or Hadith. Avoid these:

After Fatiha, it is Wajib (necessary) to recite at least three verses from the Quran, or a small Surah (like Surah Ikhlas or Surah Asr).
