The story follows Ajay Ghale after a helicopter crash. He is stranded in a valley controlled by a deranged cult worshiping a deity known as Yalung. The narrative is tighter and darker than the main plot. It doesn't have the charismatic villainy of Pagan Min, but the cult leader Yalung provides a sufficiently creepy antagonist role. The ending offers a surprising twist that ties up the supernatural lore of Kyrat nicely.
