Edius Could Not Use The Selected Format Please Confirm Setting

EDIUS checks your timeline's real-time render status. If your timeline contains unsupported effects or frame sizes, EDIUS refuses to open the export dialog.

Open Command Prompt as Administrator and run:

regsvr32 "C:\Program Files\Grass Valley\EDIUS [Version]\EDIUSFilters.dll"
regsvr32 "C:\Program Files\Grass Valley\EDIUS [Version]\avcodec.dll"

This re-registers the core decoding engines. EDIUS checks your timeline's real-time render status

Another common trigger is hitting File -> Print to File and immediately receiving the error, even before the export dialog opens.

EDIUS is a real-time, highly optimized video editor that relies on native codecs and hardware acceleration. Unlike some other editors that automatically convert everything to a proxy or intermediate codec, EDIUS tries to work directly with your source files. This re-registers the core decoding engines

When you see "Could not use the selected format. Please confirm setting," EDIUS is telling you one of three things:

Simply put: you asked EDIUS to do something mathematically impossible or hardware-constrained, and it refused. Simply put: you asked EDIUS to do something

Once you have fixed the error, follow these rules to never see it again:
