In the sprawling history of Dragon Ball video games, certain titles hold a cult status that official sequels rarely achieve. For PlayStation Portable (PSP) owners, Dragon Ball Z: Tenkaichi Tag Team (2010) was a revelation. It took the furious 3D arena combat of the Sparking! (aka Tenkaichi) series and introduced a 2v2 tag mechanic, making it one of the most chaotic and cooperative Dragon Ball games ever made. However, its roster was frozen in time—capped at the Dragon Ball Z era, with only a few Dragon Ball GT characters.
Enter the Tenkaichi Tag Team Tournament of Power Mod—a fan-made overhaul that drags this PSP gem into the Dragon Ball Super era, complete with the iconic 80-man battle royale that defined the series’ modern revival. Dragon Ball Z Tenkaichi Tag Team Tournament Of Power Mod
1. The Tournament of Power Stage The mod replaces existing stage slots with a custom-built "Null Realm" arena. It features the iconic tiled floor, the grand stands of the Omni-Kings (Zeno), and a vertical skybox that mimics the cosmic void. The stage also includes a "Ring Out" mechanic logic—push your opponent far enough, and they lose a stock, just like the anime.
2. The Roster Additions (The "Super" Expansion) This is the mod’s primary draw. Here is a partial list of playable characters added: Published: October 21, 2023 By: Modding Archives Staff
3. Better Tag Mechanics The original game had clunky AI partner behavior. The mod tweaks the memory addresses to allow "Assist Shots" (partner comes in for a super attack) and "Reversal Tags" (tagging out during a heavy stagger). This makes the 2v2 fights feel closer to Marvel vs. Capcom than the original slower pacing.
4. Balance Overhaul In vanilla DBZTTT, characters like Broly and SSJ3 Gotenks were overpowered. The mod rebalances the stats to reflect Super power scaling. Jiren has the highest base defense in the game, while Ultra Instinct Goku has a unique "auto-dodge" frame advantage (a feat of coding achieved by altering invincibility frames). Published: October 21
