CTronics uses two different firmware ecosystems. You must know which one you have before proceeding.
Type A: The "VStarCam" / Old GUI (Blue/White Interface)
These are older models or budget variants. The update process requires downloading a .zip file, extracting a .bin or .img file, and manually uploading it via a Windows PC using Internet Explorer mode or Pale Moon browser.
Type B: The "NetSurveillance" / New GUI (Dark Interface) These are modern, ONVIF-compliant models. They often support OTA (Over-the-Air) updates via the mobile app (CamHIP or IPC360), though the success rate is middling. ctronics firmware update
Crucial Warning: Do not use firmware from one type on the other. It will hard-brick the camera (no lights, no reset, no recovery).

Before diving into the "how," it is critical to understand the "why." Here are the primary reasons to keep your Ctronics camera firmware current:

If your camera does not support OTA or the automatic update fails, you must perform a manual update via TF card (MicroSD).
Cause: You downloaded firmware for CTronics model A, but own model B. Fix: Contact CTronics support directly with your order number and UID. They will email the correct file.
