Cimatron — E15

If you are a high-mix, low-volume shop, the Tooling Connect feature (new in E15) integrates with third-party tool libraries like Sandvik Coromant or Kennametal. You can select a holder from your physical inventory inside the CAM environment, and E15 automatically adjusts the toolpath to avoid collisions with that specific holder geometry.

One of the biggest headaches in the supply chain is data translation. Cimatron E15 supports a wide range of native and neutral file formats.

Building on the legacy of E14 and previous iterations, Cimatron E15 introduced significant upgrades in three main areas: Design Automation, NC Programming, and User Experience.

Cimatron E15 is a major version of the integrated CAD/CAM software for mold, die, and discrete part manufacturing. It is known for specialized tools for toolmaking—particularly injection molds and stamping dies. cimatron e15

Before diving into E15 specifically, it is crucial to understand the legacy. Cimatron has always been unique because it is not a generalist CAD/CAM package. It is purpose-built for the complexities of mold, die, and tooling design. Unlike high-end CAD systems that require extensive workarounds for draft angles and parting lines, Cimatron speaks the language of mold makers.

Cimatron E15 builds on the "E" series architecture, moving away from legacy code to a modern, robust kernel. Version 15 focuses on three pillars: Automation, Surface Quality, and Electrode Manufacturing.

Cimatron E15 is unique in that it supports the entire business lifecycle of a tool shop. If you are a high-mix, low-volume shop, the

The Quoting Phase: Because Cimatron is highly efficient at analyzing geometry, shops can use the software to quickly estimate cycle times and material costs. This allows for faster, more accurate quotes, giving businesses a competitive edge before the project even begins.

The Manufacturing Phase: The software’s simulation capabilities prevent collisions before they happen on the shop floor. Virtual machining allows the programmer to verify that the toolpath is safe, the fixtures are clear, and the surface finish meets requirements. This "prove-out" on the screen drastically reduces scrap rates and machine downtime.

  • User Interface Customization (Critical): Before diving into E15 specifically, it is crucial

  • Mouse & Navigation (Unchanged from E14):

  • For the die and stamping community, Cimatron E15 introduces a Parametric Die Set Library. Users can import standard components (guide posts, heel blocks, screws) from a drag-and-drop catalog. Unlike previous versions, these components now recognize the "Die Set Boolean"—moving a guide post automatically updates the bolt holes in the lower shoe.
