• Progression pacing

  • NPC systems

  • Worldbuilding and narrative hooks

  • Polish priorities for next milestone

  • The game utilizes a hybrid system common in the genre:

The protagonist returns to his city hoping to reconnect with his past and start a new chapter. However, he suffers from a clouded memory regarding the events that led to his departure. As the player, you must navigate his reintegration into society, securing a job, a place to live, and rebuilding relationships.

The story is grounded in realism but is punctuated by the underlying mystery of "what really happened?" The narrative tension comes from the duality of trying to live a normal life while uncovering the secrets that the town—and the protagonist himself—are hiding.

  • Versioning: include a build manifest (v0.25) and mod compatibility metadata.

Scavenging zones are now procedurally seeded with events, meaning no two runs feel identical. You can now choose a "stealth," "negotiation," or "brute force" approach for each zone, affecting both loot quality and relationship standing with The Haven’s council.

Back to Freedom -v0.25- is not a ground-up rebuild, but it is the most content-rich patch since the v0.2 release. Here are the headline features:

According to the public roadmap posted by Bald Games, v0.3 is slated for Q4 of this year. Planned features include:

Bald Games isn't known for high-budget renders, but v0.25 cleans up the art significantly. Character sprites now have micro-expressions (anger, fear, suspicion) that shift mid-dialogue. The inventory screen has been redesigned with a rusty, diegetic UI that looks like it was written on salvaged tablet glass.
