According to several hadith, reciting these verses induces a state of Sakina that evil spirits cannot penetrate. People keep a digital PDF on their phones to recite before sleep, fearing nightmares or sleep paralysis.

Download apps like Quran.com, Ayat (by King Saud University), or Al-Mushaf. Copy the verses listed above (2:248, 9:26, 9:40, 48:4, 48:18, 48:26) into a Word document.

    1. Surah Ar-Ra’d (13:28) This is considered the primary verse of Sakina regarding the peace of the heart.

    Arabic: الَّذِينَ آمَنُوا وَتَطْمَئِنُّ قُلُوبُهُم بِذِكْرِ اللَّهِ ۗ أَلَا بِذِكْرِ اللَّهِ تَطْمَئِنُّ الْقُلُوبُ

    Transliteration: Alladhīna āmanū wa-tṭma’innu qulūbuhum bi-dhikri Allāh. Alā bi-dhikri Allāh taṭma’innu al-qulūb.

Translation: "Those who have believed and whose hearts find rest in the remembrance of Allah. Unquestionably, by the remembrance of Allah hearts are assured." A reliable PDF should include:

    2. Surah At-Tawbah (9:26) This verse references the descent of Sakina upon the Prophet (PBUH) and the believers.

    Arabic: ثُمَّ أَنزَلَ اللَّهُ سَكِينَتَهُ عَلَىٰ رَسُولِهِ وَعَلَى الْمُؤْمِنِينَ

Transliteration: Thumma anzala Allāhu sakīnatahu ‘alā rasūlihi wa-‘alā al-mu’minīn.

Translation: "Then Allah sent down His tranquility upon His Messenger and upon the believers."

    3. Surah Al-Fath (48:4) A comprehensive verse asking for the descent of tranquility.

    Arabic: هُوَ الَّذِي أَنزَلَ السَّكِينَةَ فِي قُلُوبِ الْمُؤْمِنِينَ لِيَزْدَادُوا إِيمَانًا مَّعَ إِيمَانِهِمْ Avoid PDFs that promise magical outcomes, list verses

Transliteration: Huwa alladhī anzala al-sakīnata fī qulūbi al-mu’minīna li-yazdādū īmānan ma‘a īmānihim.

Translation: "It is He who sent down tranquility into the hearts of the believers that they would increase in faith along with their [present] faith."

    4. The Supplication of Distress (Du’a al-Karb) Though not a Quranic verse, this is the primary Prophetic Dua recited for removing anxiety and grief, often included in collections of Ayat Sakina.

    Arabic: اللَّهُمَّ إِنِّي أَعُوذُ بِكَ مِنَ الْهَمِّ وَالْحُزْنِ، وَالْعَجْزِ وَالْكَسَلِ، وَالْبُخْلِ وَالْجُبْنِ، وَضَلَعِ الدَّيْنِ وَغَلَبَةِ الرِّجَالِ

Transliteration: *Allāhumma innī a‘ūdhu bika min al-hammi wa’l-ḥ

A: Sometimes. Surah Alam Nashrah (94:1-8) is often added because it translates to "Have We not expanded for you, O Muhammad, your chest?" (expansion of the chest = removal of anxiety). While not historically part of the core Sakina set, it is a highly beneficial addition.
