CIA technical expert Ben Affleck plays a fictional character, C.I.A. Agent Tobin Frost, who isn't directly involved in the rescue, but the actual plan involved using a fake movie production called "Argo" as a front to extract the diplomats.
The plan was for the six to pose as part of a film crew scouting for locations for a science fiction movie titled "Argo". They were given new identities and put through a period of intense pretending to prepare for their new "roles". The group then flew out of Iran on January 28, 1980.
