In the listening part, the three answer choices often include one clearly wrong option, one plausible but incorrect option (the distractor), and the correct answer. On Form 118, the plausible distractor is designed to sound very similar to the correct answer, forcing careful attention to subtle differences in prepositions, articles, and verb tenses.
The ALCPT Form 118 is a fair, challenging test of real-world military and general English. Do not fear it—train for it. Use practice materials, learn your phrasal verbs, and practice listening to slightly fast natural speech.

Form 118 is a specific version of the ALCPT. Like all forms, it contains 100 multiple-choice questions divided into two main sections:
Form 118 is known for its balanced difficulty. It’s not as basic as Forms 1-40, but it doesn’t throw the extremely complex idioms found in later forms (like 150+). If you score well on Form 118, you are likely at a Level 2 (Limited Working Proficiency) or pushing into Level 2+.
Not objectively. All forms are scaled to equal difficulty using statistical equating. However, subjective difficulty varies based on your familiarity with the vocabulary themes in that specific form.
