In 2018, ABSA (formerly Barclays Africa) underwent a massive rebranding after separating from Barclays PLC. They needed a unique visual identity to signal a new era of "African agility."

The result was a custom typeface designed by the renowned type foundry Fontsmith (now part of Monotype). The font family is called Brave Sans.
